Marketing Methods - Pros and Cons - Old vs. New | Akp51v SMD

If it is between social media and websites, then both have their own strengths.

On social media, there is also the other content present, that is competing for the users' limited attention span, and the safe screen-time.

In the case of the website, unless one has added a lot of over-designing or unrelated ads, the entire user experience is focused on the single entity, which would be the Pricing Model, the Offered Goods and Services, the Brands and the Model Series, which are all related to the One and Only Business.

In short, social media is BETTER if one defines 'promoting' in a strict sense.

But if the Ultimate Conversions / Sales figures, creating Brand Identity, appearing Professional, or building rapport with the potential clients, are the basis of comparison; websites are BETTER than the social media platform.

And then there is the hybrid.

Business Websites can encourage even greater customer and enthusiast engagement via Blogs, Social Media, Discussion Forums and Community Support; and yes, as already pointed out, SM creates multiple inter-connected 'Loops' of back-linking.

Finally, PR Events, Meets, Conferences, Exhibitions, and old-school Marketing may enhance the Sales Performance for the senior Age Group.

Explanation of this above View of mine, during a Discussion

We all love the easy answers, and we all want to do less work, but increase our outputs or the rewarding gains.

Being effective, efficient and economical, was the recurring ideology we would here, during the engineering lectures or the seminars.

So, should you consider only the newer channels, of spreading the word about your business?

Just like most other things in our life, the answer depends on many factors.

Let's do a thought experiment.

Imagine a business, whose Mission Statement is dedicated to middle-income group (MIG) families, and their tourism. It is okay if they focus more on social media marketing, but hear this out.

What would be the age group, which might take an interest in their offerings?

And how many people from that age group, are likely to spend less time on social media? Have they really abandoned the television sets and the newspapers?

Do you see now?

If you are a Video Game Streamer, then, by all means, stick with social media. But in a scenario, of being a more conventional form of business activity, you cannot afford to stay away from television and newspaper promotions.

Since we have this much clarity about the basics, let's try to explore, the nature of each marketing, brand awareness or business development channel.

Social Media, and its Homogeneous Over-information, made by 'everyone'

If you can have a Social Media account, your business competitors can have a social media account.

In fact, anyone and everyone is seeking attention, and even creating more tension, just for grabbing the maximum pairs of eyeballs; on social media, you need to stay 'active' to remind the people, of your brand.

But essentially, you become 'yet another person, with the similar content'.

No matter how many employees or teammates you have, you cannot stand out, in that self-propagating amount of, user-generated content.

Fake Follower Counts on Social Platforms

Well, in theory, it is possible to have a huge following, but that's not really an indicator of loyalty, endorsement or genuine 'purchase' intent.

Moreover, the large number of followers, subscribers or connections, might not be that real.

Fake Accounts exist, and a lot of fake user IDs might be belonging to a single individual.

If we have learnt anything from the regular news consumption (good quality journalism only); there have been cases of the bought traffic as well as the bot traffic. How could anyone trust those metrics of popularity quantification, after discovering such realities, more than once?

I could cite the respective resources, so you would have a better amount of details, to choose your views.

But, this is an essentially personal stand.

Come on, have we not created some extra non-personal and non-financial email IDs, for certain websites, which were not familiar to us?

You should have a personal email, which you would use as a Security backup, for your other accounts. Then, a public email should be used, for the signing in or account creation, on multiple sites or apps.

Finally, you should have a dedicated email ID for the work and the finance-related mail conversations.

If you are an avid fan of video games, or if you are a digital creator, you might benefit from a more professional-looking custom email ID.

That is a good thing, which has the potential for the bad.

Such multiple email IDs can be used to create fake social media accounts, and then the numbers of the popularity metric should seem like something to be admired, only with a lot of grains of salt.
